E-commerce Gives Hydraulics a Big Lift

OST helps hydraulics manufacturer raise service level for existing customers while growing online opportunities for new business.

Old Process, New Customers

Air-Way is the largest independent hydraulic fitting manufacturer in the U.S., and while they had always relied on OEM channels for most of their business, it was time to consider new sales channels. A big plus was their ability to quote custom specs for customers, but the process was email based, demanded lots of manual input and didn’t allow for customer inquiries. Air-Way needed better internal collaboration and customer response. And a little outside help.

The Custom in Customer Service

After detailed planning, OST proposed a custom e-commerce solution that integrated sales with a customer portal feature. Key features on the e-commerce side included a mobile responsive catalog and custom integration of existing systems to better leverage data. Their new quote management tool even provided customers with automated email notifications and the ability to quickly view the status of custom quotes directly from the website.

The final product was delivered on time and budget, centered around both Microsoft and open source technologies. The marketing, e-commerce and quote management system developed in partnership with Air-Way now serves as a growing sales channel—and a solid foundation for innovation—as we continue to work with them to meet new business goals, improve productivity, and better serve customers.
